I made Sunflower Butter!
I got the recipe and method from one of my favorite blogs:
Ingredients: 2 cups raw sunflower seeds, 2 tbs unrefined sugar, 1 tsp sea salt.
Before roasting.
After roasting.
Into the food processor!
About 20 minutes later.
Into the jar!
It's phenomenal. I could have eaten all of it right then. mmmm :)
It looks yummy, Would love to make that one day. So Ms. Nutritionist, what are the differences between sunflower butter and peanut butter? Any health benefits or less fat in the sunflower butter? Just curious because I love peanut butter and would love an alternative :-)
ReplyDelete"Ms. Nutritionist" lol. Well what I've read is that sunflower seeds have about 20% less saturated fat than peanuts! Sunflower seeds are also significantly higher in vitamin E omega-3 fatty acids, calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus than peanuts and if they're not organic tend to have less toxins than non-organic peanuts.
DeleteAs far as peanut butter alternatives, i think sunflower butter is the cheapest, but if you're willing to pay a little extra almond butter is great too :).
